Sardinians know how to celebrate. This is proven well enough by over 1000 festivals taking place during the year all over Sardinia. A quote from the novel “The Mask of the Preacher” written by Gracia Deledda expresses this attitude to life in just a few words: “Let’s dance, singe, whistle, enjoy life. God has given us life for we can enjoy it a little bit.”

Festivities on Sardinia in July: This month starts with a wild horseman festival in Sedilo on July 6th and 7th. Wherever applicable, people come to this place to witness the “Adria” and to get fascinated by the rampant masses of riders. While the horses are racing in the streets, viewers celebrate a baroque festival during which masses of food and drinks are served. On the second Sunday in May the nougat week (!) “Sagra del Torrone” is celebrated for two days in Tonara. The festivities in Villasimius last for two days as well, here the Madonna of the castaways is honoured by arranging a procession of magnificently decorated boats.
